Jumping Into the Deep End

There are not many things that scare me but there are a few things that make me nerves or even scare me. In the past week I had to face the two things scare me. I had to face the unknown the unknown of how I would react with the surgery I had on Tuesday. I had to have one of my wisdom tooth taken out. To most people this would not be a big deal, but to me it is because I have never had to be put under for anything. I was not sure how I would react. I came through with out any major problems, I got a little sick that night but I started getting better the next day. The other thing that I faced this week was I sent in my Grad School Application. It is very exciting what Grad School can hold for me and what it can open up for me. It will allow me to be a teacher in an elementary school and reach the goals and dreams I have for myself and my family. However I am scared of the possibility of failing. I have had my application finished for a few weeks now but have just been to scared to send it in, today I took the jump and sent it in. I have to still send in some more documents but I am on my way to hopefully getting into Grad School and I am scared.

The Knee

So work had been going great busy but great until last Thursday. My kids have been learning about their shapes and Fall it is hard to believe that they have been in school for almost two months and it is time to start testing and filling out check list so I and their parents can see how much they have progressed. But now back to the title of the blog. On Thursday I tripped over one of my students and landed on my knee. When I landed I was on a concrete floor. I did not land on the kid and she is OK. That was the good thing. When I landed my knee twisted and my leg went to a dead weight. With time I was able to get myself up off the floor. My class was taken on to lunch with another teacher. I went to the hospital with my Mother-in-Law Rosana. I am so thankful that she was there for me. I was a bit on the hard headed side. I would not tell Jon were I was going because I did not think that he could leave work during Training. I would have called him if something was broken or torn or out of place. I had an OK experience in the E.R. up til the time that they had to wrap my knee. I got called back really quickly, the doctor was in the room when I got there, He felt the sides of my knee no pain there so tendinitis were affected so that was good. He sent me for x-rays. When I was about to leave to have the x-rays done the registration lady came in they were being very efficient which is something that I love. I came back from x-rays and about 15 to 20 min later the doctor came back to tell me that nothing was broken. Another bit of good news. He said that it was a knee sprain. Now I have never heard of someone that had done that but yes I did that to my self. That is me I will always find a new way to hurt my self or get hurt. So this is the point where I got less impressed with the E.R. staff after the doctor left it took 45 min or longer for someone to come in and wrap. It was so long that I had to go pee and I had to call someone to come help me out of the bed not because I could not move my self but because the left the rails up and I could not get them down. So they sent in two male nursers in that was funny to me so I told them that I could not get the rail down so they put it down a pointed me in the direction of the bathroom. Can I say that it is not easy to go pee when you can not bend your knee. So when they finally came in and wrapped my knee I asked about work. They said I could go as long as I did not take the strong pain pills. So the next morning I went back to work that may have been a bad idea. I was hurting by the time I got home. So today I am just trying to rest be cause I want to go to work on Monday it is party day for Halloween and I am so excited about it.

Big event of a week or so ago

It has been a crazy week with so much going on. Last Friday was the last day of the summer program at little red school house. So I started that night to decorate my classroom. I had been working on stuff the whole week thinking that I would not have to be there long. Boy was I wrong. Maria came to help me but she had to leave to go do bath time with the kids but all the help that she gave me was great. When Maria left Rosana stayed to help. I tried my best to not look at the clock but decide we were done for the night when I could not even think any more. When I got to the car it was 2 am no wonder I could not think any more. We went back the next night to get it done and we stayed til 2:30 am but it got done here a some photos from it.

Circle Time Area:

Over all look at my room!

On Tuesday my new group of kids started in m class. It has now been 4 days that I have had them and things are going really well the first day was crazy. After I got off work I really just wanted to go home and cry but I went to sleep. I has gotten better everyday. On Friday the Education Coordinator walked in my classroom and gave me $10 for all of the good work that I am doing. That was really cool I have never really had this happen to me before.

Back to the weekend when I was not at the school working, we still had a lot going on. On Saturday Lilah was baptised at St. Patrick Church with Father Jeff. Jon and Myself got the great honor of being God Parents for Lilah this was really special for me and I am so glad that Maria and Shawn asked us to be her God Parents. I don't have any photos from this but I will at some point.

Then we ended our weekend with the big Birthday party. We had a birthday party at Great American Ball Park for Rosana. It was a surprise and boy was she surprise. It was a great night that ended with some great fireworks. Here are some photos from that.

On the go time for an update and OMG

Ok so for those of you that had already read the last big update you do not need to re read this will be very much the same as the last one. However I went in to change the spacing because it was driving me nuts and I deleted the last post so I am going to redo it now.

School Update: From the last time that I posted I finished another semester in School. This las semester I ended up getting all A's. The end of the school year was a bit crazy wit finals and papers but I made it through. One of my classes was were I was able to go to one of the schools and shadow the teachers. I was in Kindergaten and Fifth grade I love both of the classes. So I have descovered that I would like to work with any age group in Elementray school. It was very difficult on my last day of being in the class room, but it was a great experance to have.

Girls Night Out: In April the girls and I got all dressed up and went to dinner and to see Legally Blond the musical in Lexington. It was great to get to hag out with the girls. The show was really good as well. There were so many people there, there was a lot of pink, some people that were in costumes for example the women that had on bunny ears.

Family Events:

In tha past month or two we have had alot of family events.

First was Megan graduating from the 8th grade. It is hard to beleave that she is going to high school next year.

Next Jon took my Grandparents and Dad to the Senior PGA Tour in Louisville. I think that they all had a really good time. My Grandmother loved because she go to see players from Kentucky and she loves that.

That same week end I got to go to my first high tea, to celebrate Maria and the soon to be birth of Lilah. Lilah got alot of really nice things and it was fun to have an afternoon with the girls.

The next weekend I helped to host a baby sprinkel for Maria and Lilah. It was another great sprinkel.

Then there was Expo weekend in Frankfort. This is not really a family event but I went during the day with my Mom, Sister, Megan, Jake and Kaleb and walked around to look at crafts, eat some food and let Kaleb make a sand art and play a game (with the help of Jake). Later that night Jon and I went back and watched the fireworks with Mellisa, Daniel, Maddison and Jacob. Jacob is now two and it was the first time that I got to see him. I was great to get to catch up with a really good and old friend.

New Found Talant: So I was invited to Mari Parkers baby shower. I decided that I wanted to try my hand at making diaper cakes. Her shower was Dr. Suess themed so Iwanted to make a cake that fit that theme. Thought that making the cake would be the difficult part and that I would be able to find all kinds of Dr. Suess stuff to go on it. Boy was I wrong. The cake for me was the easy part. I went all over Louisville looking for stuff to go on it and I ended up having to order it on line. After spending all that time I asked my self why I did not just do that in the first place. Oh well it all worked out. Now people are telling me that I should make them and sell them. I will have to see about that.

Alexander's terrible horrible no good day

OK maybe it was not Alexander's day but it was mine. It might have not been all day but it was all before 11am. Which was long enough to be a day. So last night is stormed a lot here so much that there was flooding. When you live on the third floor of a residence hall you do not expect to have flooding in your home but that is what we work up to. We had to use every towel that we own and them some t-shirt and anything else that would get the water up. So I left Jon to clean while I went to work because I got the fun task of working the switch board for the campus. This is not something that I like to ever do but I knew I had to before I even got up this morning. Part of my Job when I answer the phones I have to get the campus mail form the post office. So I took my umbrella and walked to the post office on the way back the wind was blowing so hard and I just happened to pick up the not so goo umbrella at home; the umbrella snapped in half. OK so I get back to the office what more can go wrong. I put the mail away and went to sit back down to try and do some work, but I almost missed the chair and started to fall. So I tried to catch myself and there was my water bottle just sitting there open so yep you guess I knocked it over. All over the phones, papers an anything else that was on the desk. By this time it was oh only about 10:30 and time to go to class. The day did get better from then. But the morning took almost every thing I had.

Valentine's Day

Yester day was Valentine's Day and love was in the air all around campus. I think the love bug bitt Jon as well. He brought me lunch while I was working the front desk and ate with me so that I did not have to eat alone. When I came back to work form class there was a large monkey in my chair and the roses on my desk. They were not red and that was great because I don't like red roses. After work he picked me up from work so we could have dinner and so I did not have to walk home. It was a really good Valentine's Day.

School Update

Last Wednesday I was able to go to the school for the day. The interaction I had with the kids was great. I also had to write a paper to go with my time at the schools that was not so much fun. I got my grade back today on it and on the 4 pt. scale I got a 4 on it so I am very happy about that. I am really in joying my other two classes as well. For next Monday I have to make a me book. So if anyone has anything that they think I should share with my kids in my me book then please feel free to share that with me. As of right now I have all A's in all of my classes. I am so happy about this, now just to keep it up til may. I know I can do that. OK well I just wanted to give you all a quick update.

Education Update

Ok so it is about time that I update everyone that might not know. I have decided to go back to school. I am redoing my bachelors degree at St. Catharine. They have great hands on education program. I have started taking classes this semester. I am taking 3 classes one of the classes is where I get to spend the whole day at Bardstown schools in the morning I am at the primary school where I get to be kindergarten and in the afternoon I am at the elementary school where I get to work with 5th grade. I will be going every Wednesday, but not today because Bardstown schools were out for snow. I am loving both of my other two classes one is about how kids learn and what they need to learn and the other one is about positive discipline. I really like both of these classes and I am enjoying exploring them.

TOO BIG!

Over the weekend my sister and I went to pick up our bridesmaids dresses for my cousins wedding. Both of the dresses did fit but mine was way to big. They say that they will be able to take it in but that I should wait until Oct. to have it done because of the fact that I am losing weight. This is a good thing. I would post of picture of what it looked like but if I put it on here it would be bad. The dress literally hangs off of me. This is good thing, better to be do big then to small and me have to loss so many pounds in order to get into the dress.

Weight Loss

This week Jon and I joined Weight Watchers online. We have both decided that we would like to change our life and our health. We both know that this will not be a quick or easy process but it is some thing that we feel we need to do for each other as well as our family. We are hoping that everyone will cheer us on as we do this. I know that this will work as long as we stick to it and I know that it is not a diet but a life style change. I also know that there will be ups and downs during this process. We will keep you all posted as we go through our adventure.

Turning 26

So yesterday I turned 26. My husband did a great job of trying to make it a special day. But I was a poo pooh head about the whole thing, and for that I am sorry Jon. Now to figure out why I am being such a downer about my birthday it is not like I was turning 30 or anything it was just 26 there is nothing big about that number. I think it is because I am feeling very unsettled about my life right now. When I say unsettled it has noting to do with my family or friends, I love them all very dearly and would not change a one of them for anything. I mean more with my goals and where I thought I would be in life. Where I am to day 26 and one day is no where that I thought that I would be at this point in my life. I thought that I would be in a career that I loved but I am not. I am just it a job that is OK but not what I want to be doing. Shortly before my birthday I found some papers that I had gotten from U of L's grad program. Some how I had gotten it in my head that I only needed 3 classes before I could get in. When I found the papers I found that I had been wrong. I need about 6, so then I keep thinking to myself is this goal that I put out there for my self even reach able. What else will I have to put on hold in order to see my dream come true. Is it fare of me to ask my husband to put thing on hold so that I can do this. So today I am reevaluating my goals and dreams. Will I become a teacher by doing the grad program at U of L, will I redo my under grad and become a teacher that way or will I even go on with this dream of being a teacher. I guess only time will tell. But for now I think I am allowed to be down about this realization of my dreams.
